Holy Spoons

The gift of hospitality sometimes comes with food.

Nut Apple Torte

We can’t remember the genealogy of this recipe. We think it either came from Southern Living or the Columbus Dispatch. In any case, it is a quick, simple, yummy dessert when apples are in season!

Beat together:

  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cups sugar
Mix together:
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking poweder
  • dash of salt
Stir flour mixture into egg/sugar mixture
Fold in:
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup peeled and chopped apples (use Granny Smith or another tart, firm apple)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Scrape into 9″ well-grased pie pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Delicious with vanilla ice cream and freshly grated nutmeg as a garnish.
