Chai Tea

My daughter brewed the decaf version (i.e. no black tea) for us over the holidays. Not only was it delicious, while it was brewing, it made the kitchen smell DIVINE!!! Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Fresh ginger root, peeled and chunked
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 5-6 whole cloves
  • 2-3 black peppercorns
  • 5-6 allspice berries
  • Options:
    • Turmeric
    • Nutmeg
    • Black tea (the caffeinated version)
  • Honey and milk to taste
  • DIRECTIONS:
  • Simmer ingredients in about 3 cups of water for 30 minutes. Add black tea for the last five minutes. Strain and serve. Add honey and milk, if desired.
